The new IEE Wiring Regulations is the latest update on the 16th Edition Wiring Regulations. The IEE have produced a draft copy of these new wiring regs. The new wiring regulations are due to come into effect at the beginning of June 2008.
The latest draft copy of the new BS7671 Regulations is now available for public consultation and therefore the precise content of the final copy is uncertain for the time being.
The main amendments that have noticably changed for the new wiring regulations to date include the following:
Regulation 132.13 which concerns the drawings for electrical installations
Chapter 41 which concerns the RCD requirement for general use sockets as well as for equipment that is mobile
Section 701 which references circuits in bathrooms requiring a 30mA RCD
The new edition regulations contains many more changes over the 16th edition wiring regulations, but it is not worth listing them all here when the full draft document is now available for download from the IEE website.
